N ON -F ULLY Q UALIFIED T EACHER Q UALIFICATIONS

A non-fully qualified preschool teacher must have completed at a minimum one of the following educational and experience options prior to employment: Option 1: Complete, with passing grades, at least six postsecondary semesters or equivalent quarter units of early childhood education or child development courses, covering the general areas of child growth and development, child, family and community, and preschool program or curriculum; and Complete at least an additional two units each semester until the education requirement for a fully qualified teacher is met. 17 Option 2: Possess a regional occupation program certificate of training in child care occupations issued by an accredited regional occupation program; Complete 95 hours of classroom instruction in child care development and 150 hours of supervised experience at a licensed child care center; and Complete at least an additional two units each semester until the education requirement for a fully qualified teacher is met. 18
