Minimum Wage Minimum wage is $12.00 effective January 1, 2019 and $13.00 effective January 1, 2020 for schools with 26 or more employees. Minimum wage is $11.00 effective January 1, 2019 and $12.00 effective January 1, 2020 for schools with 25 or fewer employees. Minimum wage must comply with any applicable city or county ordinance(s). Overtime Pay If the employee works over 8 hours in a work day, the additional work is paid at a rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay. If the employee works over 12 hours in a work day, the additional work is paid at a rate of twice the regular rate of pay. If the employee works over 40 hours in a workweek, the additional work is paid at a rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay. If the employee works all seven consecutive days in a single designated workweek, hours worked up to eight on the seventh consecutive day are paid at a rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay and hours worked in excess of eight are paid at the rate of twice the regular rate of pay.
Frequency of Non-Exempt Employee Pay Periods Must be paid at least twice each month. Timing of payment.
Wages earned between the 1 st and 15 th of the month must be paid between the 16 th and the last day of that same month. Wages earned between 16 th and last day of the month must be paid between the 1 st and 10 th of the following month. For all other pay periods, wages must be paid within 7 calendar days of the end of the pay period.
