It also would have been a good learning opportunity for you to give feedback on the lists that were read by each group to probe their conclusions and suggest more in-depth issues to consider. This would have been a good way to model how to use a basic concept or hypothesis to develop an in-depth analysis. By not doing this, you lost a valuable opportunity to model how to create a multi-level research project from a basic concept or hypothesis. Also, after you gave the written assignment, you should have asked the students if they had any questions about the assignment. If not, you could have then let them pack up and chat for the last two minutes of class. Not providing the students with an opportunity to ask questions or check for understanding means questions remain unanswered. This can detract from the value of the learning experience and the overall quality of the product the student completes. I will be meeting with you to discuss this written observation and to go over my recommendations and ways you can implement them.
