Additionally, preschools must maintain sufficient and safe napping equipment for children. 2868 The bedding for cots or mats must be individually stored, kept clean, and may not be shared by different children without being laundered. 2869 Napping equipment shall be arranged so each child has access to a walkway without having to walk over cots or mats of other children. 2870 LCW Practice Advisor
Exemptions to the preschool facility requirements may apply if the preschool school grounds and classrooms are also used as a functioning school site for K-12 students. Preschools may obtain exemptions to square footage, toilet, isolation space, outdoor activity space, and fencing requirements. 2871

A. A DMISSIONS
1. A DMISSION P OLICIES A ND P ROCEDURES Each preschool must have written admission policies which are available to the public for review. 2872 The preschool may establish its own admission policies, but at a minimum they must include the following: Written admission criteria designating those children whose needs can be
met by the preschool’s programs and services; The ages of children who will be accepted; The program activities; The supplementary services provided, if any; Field-trip provisions, if any; Transportation arrangements, if any; Food-service provisions; and Medical-assessment requirements. 2873
The preschool must develop, implement, and maintain admission procedures that permit the preschool’s admissions staff to: (1) determine if the child meets the admission criteria, (2) obtain and understand the child’s pertinent health and developmental information, and (3) conduct personal interviews with the child’s parent or legal guardian. 2874
