Chapter 6 – Wage And Hour Laws

Ages 16 & 17 Must have completed 7th Grade to work while school in session. (Education Code § 49112) on a school day, but not more than 8. E. E XEMPTIONS

1. T RAINING P ROGRAMS Minors under age 16 may work in manufacturing jobs or jobs requiring machinery work in certain apprenticeship, training or work experience education programs. 769 Also, specified trainees and students in vocational agricultural programs may perform agricultural work from which they would otherwise be barred. 770
