When deciding whether to disqualify an applicant for other types of misconduct or adverse information discovered during the screening process, consider: Relationship between the prior misconduct and the services the applicant will provide; Applicant’s employment or volunteer history before and after the misconduct; Applicant’s efforts and success at rehabilitation; Circumstances or factors indicating whether the misconduct is likely to be repeated; Nature, severity, number and consequences of incidents of misconduct; Circumstances surrounding each incident, including contributing societal or environmental conditions; and Amount of time elapsed since the incident. Consult with professionals, such as legal counsel or a human resources expert, before making a decision to disqualify.
