Policies and Procedures Provide anti-discrimination statement (including against disabilities). Establish process for seeking and providing reasonable accommodations. Protect those who seek and obtain accommodations from retaliation. Admissions Application and Interviews Should not seek information about disabilities, for example: Do not ask about medications. Do not ask about academic accommodations at other schools. Provide reasonable accommodations during the interview process if requested. Providing Reasonable Accommodations to Disabled Students Reasonable accommodations must be provided to qualified disabled students. Applies to known physical or mental disabilities, including learning disabilities. School must accommodate a student or applicant who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities, has a record of such impairment, or is regarded as having such impairment. Determination of whether a student is qualified is within the discretion of the school. Process is a dialogue and exchange of information between the school and student/parents. Student or family requesting accommodation must provide documentation that supports need for an accommodation. The school should ask for information and documentation that reflects the following: The nature of the student’s disability. What accommodations the student/parents are seeking. Any accommodations that have worked for the student in the past.
